One of our recent projects in South London was to turn a cramped galley kitchen into a multifunctional area. The original idea was to create a wraparound extension however unfortunately plans were refused by Lambeth council.
After considering various options, we agreed with the client that the solution was to push into the side return, creating a spacious kitchen and dining area. The back was also extended by 3m to make a living room with doors onto the garden.
We mocked up a 3D image to help the client visualise the proposal in context to the rest of the property. This was also used to assist the application and help the planners with their decision.
Where the side return extension meets the wall, this has been transformed by glazing into a gorgeous feature, giving a beautiful view out into the garden.
Folding doors were installed into the living area, giving a seamless extension of the living room into the garden.
The extension has enabled the family to relax, eat and play in one area, meeting all their needs in one beautiful space.
