‘Our kitchen feels like part of the garden’

Glass bi-fold doors connected Kelly Skipper’s kitchen with her outside space.

When they bought their West Kensington town house in 2007, Kelly Skipper and Geoff Harris inherited a poky 1960s basement kitchen that was in desperate need of a revamp. ?It had a separate dining room and storage room, so we wanted to open it up into one big space and fit glass doors to allow light in, as it was very dark. And we wanted the garden to feel like part of the kitchen in summer.? The couple found a company to do the work, then set a budget for the kitchen and visited showrooms. ?We chose Bulthaup because we felt it had the edge,? says Geoff. ?The style is very streamlined and contemporary, which we love, but also a bit quirky and very us.?
