Making use of a side passageway
This terraced side and rear kitchen extension in a Herne Hill home allowed the homeowners to make a wide and spacious kitchen and dining area by shifting the downstairs WC and extending through the side return. Utilising side passageways is a perfect way to get some much-needed breathing room inside; this reconfiguration also afforded them the benefit of a new utility room. As always, bespoke skylights and large glazed doors out into the garden create a light, nature-filled space to enjoy.
Project details
Extend into side return and towards rear creating wraparound extension
Construct timber framed pitched-flat roof
Create new utility space between kitchen and rear reception entrances
Create new WC following the line of the staircase
Install underfloor heating to the entire ground floor
Reconfigure 1st floor outrigger to create ensuite bedroom with walk-in wardrobe
