We have constructed a large wraparound extension to the lower ground floor of this Victorian terrace property in South East London.
It has been designed to create a large kitchen and entertaining space which is connected to an outside terrace with large sliding doors. The extension ceiling sits slightly lower than the original space due to planning restrictions, but this creates an interesting distinction between new and old; whilst the use of large skylights on the flat roof and sliding doors to the rear elevation, flood the space with natural light.
The kitchen has been positioned away from the kitchen entrance in order to remove any obstructions and give the impression of space as you enter the room. Retaining the fireplace helps to break the wall up and keeps an original feature.
