A beautiful classic pitched-to-hip roof kitchen extension in Tooting
The rear part of the extension was built out far enough to accommodate not only skylights down the side return but also at the rear providing more even natural light throughout the space. The exposed painted brick wall offers a clever contrast and breaks up the smooth perfect finishing with the rough texturing. The garden was lowered to create a flush patio allowing this wonderful kitchen, living and dining space to be enjoyed fluently with the garden.
Project details
Extend kitchen into side return and towards rear creating wraparound extension
Create an opening within the rear wall for sliding doors
Construct a central pitched gable vaulting the internal ceiling
Create openings within the roof for large sky lights
Lower the kitchen floor by 2x steps
Open plan the two reception rooms with each other
